im being so good and not looking at stuff. I want a surprise when I go in Dec. You all are making it so TOUGH! Without spoilers, tell me though, was it fun? good? Lots of new material?
I am STILL EUPHORIC, even the next day. It was so much fun, and Gabriel is ... professional, fun-loving, amazing, an ass kicker, sexy, totally still in the "Still Has What it Takes" book, oh my god ...
So glad to hear you're going. It's really a tremendous performance - Tony Levin is amazing, wow. And Melanie Gabriel is a fine fine singer.
Lots of new material, and I haven't heard the new one yet, but it was still lovely and beautiful and I didn't feel lost at all. There's some really great moments.
The new album is amazing. It's dark and tricky and a hard one to work through. I loved the challenge of it, though. It's got so much substance that you need to work through it, a la Radiohead's Kid A. Mind challenging music is a rarity I think, these days.
Go get it. Get the room dark. Headphones. Candles. a glass of wine. Get transported. It's REALLY powerful stuff.
Do tell me one thing tho. Did both the blind boys and the other artist open? I saw he has two opening bands. I wanna see the blind boys really badly, so when I saw he had two openers, I wondered if he rotated them, or what.
ps. I knew he had that hamster ball, you can see it on the front page of his official site. I've seen them before so I knew what it was. But I'm not lookin at anything else, his site had photos there, too, but labled them wisely as spoilers so I knew not to look. What he DOES with it, I'll wait to be surprised with. I'd like to see him roll down a nice English countryside tho. I hope the crew/band/whatever took it out somewhere at some point and had fun.
incidentally, i've had tickets to see Peter twice before in my life, and both times, I missed it. a womad show was cancelled in 1995 and on the secret world tour, I had mono and mom forbid me to go, even though I literally groveled on the floor. The next day I went to the dr. and he said I was free to go back to work. To this day I have STILL nagged her on that. So I have really, really high hopes since I've been actively denied a show for about ten years. I'm knocking wood, previous experience points to me not making this one, after all. =)
