Growing Up

I saw Peter Gabriel tonight.

In some ways, I feel I will never be the same again. I know by tomorrow I will feel more like my normal self, but right now, anything is possible.

We humans are funny things, you know. We bitch and moan and smell like shit, but then every now and then we clean up our act and we transcend, and music is one way of proving to the universe that we're worth something.

I cannot tell you how much it meant for me to be there tonight, the light, the sound, the joy, the spectacle, the hamster ball.

Wow.

I am awed.

Saw him back in '93 on the SECRET WORLD tour in Detroit (front row seats, woo hoo!) He always puts on a fantastic show. One of the few musicians out there who can thread that tricky balance between musicianship and theatricality without looking like a doof.

My big question is: did they play "Sky Blue"? (I *so* love that song.) And, if so, did he actually have the Five Blind Boys of Alabama backing him? And did it send shivers down your spine?

BOO he's not coming anywhere near Indy this tour. Grumble.

really, nothing can supercharge your emotions like music, and good music played live is, well .. AMAZING. i felt the way you do after i saw the SB's live .. and it's such an exhausting, intense, awesome feeling!

i'm glad you had such a good time, and even got pics! yay for good pals that help you take part in special events like that, too. i'm happy you got to go - stuff like this shouldn't be missed!
