I was actually thinking about other matters when the thought occurred to me, but:
It's not that I like to argue, it's that I like to figure out where people are really at. It's why I generally loathe tissue tigers and devil's advocates, because I don't argue for the sport, I argue for the sincere desire of knowing someone else's position, and understanding it as viscerally as possible.
So, really, when I argue with you, I want you to convince me, as sincerely as possible (the pretty bow), why it is that you feel the way you do. I am all the more ready, then, to agree, or to agree to disagree. I don't want Debate Club, I want tiny pieces of people's souls.
