I had a strange, long, tangled happy dream last night, one that involved a trip to England and a surprise concert by A-Ha at a festival where I was trying to sell Waterford crystal with a couple of the HR people from my company.

I don't know what that means, either, dude.

The weather is simply glorious - I slept better last night than I have for the past week, and it really made a difference. I feel almost giddy today from emotion (oh, OK, and PMS), and there's just this feeling of solidity that I seem to lose when it's so hot I can't sleep, when it's so hot I am sweating sitting still.

I got invited to a party on Saturday, and that makes me happy. I am feeling more social, if still a little unsure of myself in general.

In addition to reading Dreamland by Kevin Baker, I am also still taking small nibbles of The Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket, and I've started reading Fast Food Nation while riding the bus and train to and from work.

Smiles come more easily to me today.

burgers, mayors, and boats...oh my!

Fast Food Nation is quite a good read. I thoguth it would be littered with conspiricy theories and illuminati material, but instead it just made me hate fast food chains even more (an impressive feat). I read Dreamland last year and loved it. Kinda reminded me of Ragtime but longer and somewhat more developed. Damn good first novel...

Have fun at your party (and if its the party I'll be at, wouldn't that be freaky). If it has anything to do with Venetian night, you may start humming the Twilight Zone theme....now.

The facts are really well-presented so far in FFN. It's enjoyable in that crankypants sort of way that I tend to like. I like proof; I like facts. It assuages the irritation I have with so many people around me who like to spout off political misnomers and claptrap, just 'cause it sounds good/makes them sound cool. This book is methodical and a good narrative.

As far as I know, the party's not Venetian-night-themed. Heh!
