Slightly belated and additional happy birthday! Now, I have to ask: What's your mojito recipe?
I've tried making some, but never found a particularly precise recipe, and I'm still not totally happy with mine (compared with, say, Redbones BBQ restaurant and bar near my house).
Slice lime in half. Squeeze as much juice as possible from one lime half into a good-sized glass. Use a hand juicer or a wooden spoon to sort of squosh out the last few drips.
Drop in a tablespoon or so of sugar.
Pluck about 5 or 6 nice-sized mint leaves from a stem, drop those in the glass. Stir the sugar and juice and mint leaves together with the wooden spoon, and then 'muddle' the mint leaves by bruising and pressing them against the sides of the glass.
Add a shot or a shot and a half of light rum.
Fill glass with club soda, stir very gently, add ice.
