If you're a tourist to the fine city of Chicago, try to avoid taking public transportation during rush hour. Go - have a nice dinner somewhere. Sit by the lake, have a beer, or an ice cold something. Enjoy life, and when it is 6 PM, feel free to invade the turnstiles en masse, taking your time inserting the transit card every which way but correctly, and then attempt to board a train car before everyone has exited. When in the train, cluster in clumps and talk loudly and giggle, especially right near the doors. Don't move too much when someone needs to get on or off, and definitely stare at everyone around you.

Just make sure it's before 4:30, and after 6*.

My commute home took an extra half hour today.

*Yes, people can ride the CTA whenever the fuck they please, duh. I am a little confused why a tourist would force the issue, though, when a train car is already to capacity, and people are just trying to get home.

Winter isn't so bad -- lots fewer other tourists to deal with.

Summer can be kind of horrid, since the building I work in is also a tourist attraction.

Are you sure you don't live in DC? Or maybe I really live in Chicago and don't know it.

Living in one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and being a public transit rider, I stand in solidarity with my sistah, Krystyn.

DC me hated tourists too - especially at the arlington cemetery stop - but i was young and my hatred grew more refined once i lived in NYC - an artform.

I will do exactly that when I visit Chicago later this year. Hell hath no fury like a native annoyed by tourists during rush hour.

There's a name for them.... Tourists+Morons = Tourons. (I take no credit for this derivation.)

Frankly I am amazed you lot get around at all. I'd just be human puddle, calling for my cabana boy to bring me another mojito as I go through my Netflix queue. And play Halo.

Grr... that's nothin'-- I used to live in Staten Island, so my daily commute-- the Staten Island ferry-- was a frickin' tourist attraction.
