The cold I had recently really screwed things up, time-wise. I have so much laundry to do, and I am still feeling sort of exhausted from being ill (even on Thursday, my friend Sam asked me if I was getting a cold, but apparently this one is still lingering, and he could hear it in my voice), so Mother's Day was sort of a wash, as I was not able to shop properly for something for my mom.

Anyway, I am always getting her little things throughout the year, but I've been working on this, and I think she'll like it:

I dunno. It sort of feels like one of those things where I am giving her a crude crayoned drawing to put on the fridge door, but I think it turned out a lot better than I expected, since my printer's pretty old, and I am not exactly a digital-to-print expert. They're little pieces of Chicago, close to my heart.

that is so very awesome!

Where did you find a frame like that?

Thank you; that makes me feel better about gifting it to her.

I actually got this frame + another one in the same style but a single larger pane from a stepsister for birthday or Christmas some years back. Not sure where she got them, but they're neat. I have to use my metric allen wrench set to get the screws out so I can adjust the struts and glass pieces.

Yes, I'm peekin' at your shelves.

I agree, it looks great - after factoring in the close to your heart sentiment, I have to say - you rock.

Say, that book one over from the left - is that where you got the pic you used with this post?

Nope. The illustration in my icon is drawn by Brett Helquist, who does the illustrations for the Lemony Snicket books. That image was on his portfolio website for a while, so I snagged it cropped it down to icon size. I love his stuff.

very beautiful. She is a lucky mom.

Make sure to sign the backs in crayon:

"KRYSTYN AGE (ahem)" with the R and N backwards.

Heee! I did initial them, and give the locations of the photos. The first is Diversey Ave at Kimball, and then the second one is from when I was at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago, doing favors for Lucky. :) There were simply piles of leaves everywhere, in a thick, goldeny orangey yellow carpet.

Are you kidding me? Mom's love this stuff, and you did a beautiful job. You should do this every year.

It might be a really nice tradition, I think. It would encourage me to take more photographs, too.

also with the shelf-peeking

It's lovely. So pretty.

Funny - I'm rereading Life of Pi right now. What a wonderful book.
