The L Word
More lesbian soap opera, but I am finding that the fluffiness of the drama and the plethora of Pretty People is a fairly good buffer for some of the painful issues that float along under the surface. Jenny is not quite as annoying now, but her ability to turn on the waterworks at a moment's notice is sometimes disturbing. Perhaps it's because her facial expression is almost always the same. Each time, her leetle chin is thrust forward, tears hovering over the masses of dark makeup plastered around her eyes, the camera angle often making her look wan and over-tired and beaten. Even when she's supposed to be 'strong.'
(as a side note, I've begun watching the series Veronica Mars, and I think I really like it. I am a little tired of seeing (by sheer coincidence) an overabundance of stuff that takes place in California, with its attendant SoCal worship. I'm not sure I need to see too many more hours of spoiled pretty teens being mean to each other all the time, and the sometimes-glorification of the gang warfare, where the top cat has a heart of gold or some crap. I dunno. Sun-kissed girls, and boys with bead necklaces. Sigh. Overkill.)
