Rain. Lots of it.

Car wouldn't start.

Trying very much not to freak out about that, today. I am hoping that because I haven't started my car since last Tuesday, that the freakish cold snap and then two days of rain = condensation on, near, or around the starter mechanism.

its not the starter, if the car is cranking. you most likely have a cracked distributor cap.

Or a dirty cold-start injector. Easy-Peasy to clean. My car was being all stupid like that. Wouldn't start if it was raining, or cold, or thursday, or Banana-day, or if it just didn't feel like it. Was putting on the snow tires and some new spark-plug wires, and thought hey, I should look at this. So I take out the two bolts, and hey, it looks like a Giant Ball of Goo (tm). A little cleaner, some scrubbing with a defunct toothbrush, and voila! A car that will now start in the cold.

The question of the day is this: Had your car been difficult to start prior to the rain, or is this it's first time being difficult?

Heheheh, Banana-day.

This is the first time, I guess. It just didn't feel like anything was broken, really. Just that it was raining a lot, and I know the car has sat through rain, and then below freezing weather, and then a warm two days of rain.

Starter sounds perfectly normal, engine was not flooded, it's just that the engine wasn't 'catching.'

Hrm, mine does that every so often. The not-catching, that is. But it always works on the second try so I haven't been too worried...

I am hoping the rain stops, and the humidity drops. I tried about three times (with a bit of a wait between tries), and there was no love.

Only a few reasons why it would not start. No zappy or no gojuice. Could easily be moisture in the plugs/wires/distributer system. Or your not getting fuel to the engine, I always default to checking/changeing the fuel filter with any kind of running/starting problems.

I woudnt think it would be a problem with the starter itself, if its cranking, then its working.
