Belated and Upcoming.
Aug. 16th, 2005 07:58 amI am hoping the birthday twins
luvnisa187 and
athenais had wonderful, satisfying days yesterday, and many happy returns to
perigee, whose birthday was the day before.
There's all sortsa birthdays coming up for people I know on and offline, which seems significant, somehow. As I said at a recent birthday gathering in Oak Park for my friend Marie and her father, "Lotsa folks gettin' jiggy with it around Thanksgiving time, that's for sure."
At least, in Chicagolandia, the cold of our winters provides a good excuse for such recreation.
Last night I took the train over to my uncle's tavern, met my mom there, and we had the most delicious, tasty ribeye steaks (medium rare), and I drank coca-cola out of a little bar glass and then we had cookie cake. We chatted over coffee well into the evening, and Ronnie brought out a bouquet of flowers from the cooler right before we left - all dark purples and crimsons and deep blues.
"I want dark colors for her," she had explained to the florist. "She's different."
At which point my mom revealed that when she had cat-sat for me when I was in NYC, she had sat in my living room and decided it was 'too dark' (the walls are a dark burgundy/chocolatey brown, depending on the light). Heh heh heh. I like it that way. It makes the video games show up better on the TV screen.
Once home, I played some Halo, frustrated by some of the network issues that prevented a bunch of us from actually sitting in the same lobby at the same time. Annoying.
