I played the Smiling Game as I walked down to the UPS Store to ship something out on my break, but in spite of the lovely weather and a goodly number of people on the sidewalks, I had no takers.
You mean you smiled at people and they did not smile back? Nobody? That seems odd. I mean, it seems like no matter where I have lived if I smile at people a good number usually smile back.
Awww, I would've smiled back. And [gasp] I'm in Boston!
Then again, I'm not exactly from Boston. Having been raised elsewhere, I haven't been trained in that genteel New England-y social etiquette which resists thanking people for holding open doors or yelling "Yankees SUCK!" anytime there's a gathering of any more than 4 people. It's taking a while, but I think I'm getting the hang of it ;)
Bloody shame, that. Today at work, instead of saying "Have a nice day," I tried saying things like "Have a SPECTACULAR day!" or "Have a FANTABULOUS day!" Nobody seemed amused except for myself. Curses.

The Smiling Game was much more fun in Madison than here. It was sort of like playing a video game in god mode.
