I watched Secretary again last night. James Spader is just so awesome. The whole movie is just fun, in a lot of ways. And pretty. And weird. And the pacing is actually very, very clever.

I'm not holding to my resolve, re: sleep. I am very tired today, and feeling it in every aspect. There is spitting drizzle outside, and it feels like the inside of my head: creaky chilly cold pavement dim light slick lack of retention of color. I had a dream that lasted through the morning, where I was waiting on angelo to get back to me on something. My snooze alarm would start to chime, I'd hit it, and try to fall back asleep to wait on angelo. I woke up very late, as a result, and dream angelo never did get back to me. Thanks, brain.

Went to the post office today and sent off two small care packages. Boss bought me a coffee this afternoon. I'm in a better mood now than I was earlier today, but it's by the grace of sheer stubbornness lent to me by my own mother, and most of my dad's side of the family. This Friday was too long in coming, and is well-deserved.

I am anxious.

Man, another 30 minutes! Just talked to Ian on the phone - we've got plans for tomorrow night! Woot. It's always fun to hang out with him. He has flock of seagulls hair!

Some of the BDSMers I know are down on that movie because it conflates psychological problems with BDSM, and otherwise isn't realistic enough for them. Personally, I love Secretary because a) it's fun to watch; b) the whole Spader-hating-the-sadist-in-him part is realistic; c) the toys and scenes are pretty real; and d) it might very well be the first sympathetic, non-exploitative portrayal of BDSM in a movie ever.

They're not getting the point that these psychological problems are because of having to closet any BDSM-related behaviors from society, I suppose.

And as for a) through d), yes! d) is the aspect that charms me the most.
