The Wedding Singer

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you.
I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growin old with you.
I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold.
Need you, feed you, I'll even let you hold the remote control.
So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink.
Oh I could be the man to grow old with you.
I wanna grow old with you.

Cute, cute movie.

The Triplets of Belleville

Beautiful, beautiful movie. I know this has been said by countless others, but I really enjoyed how much of the story was told with practically no dialogue at all. The dog dreams were amazing, as were Madame Souza's range of emotions demonstrated with a simple push on her eyeglasses. Her face and gaze reminded me of my grandma Wells a lot, and so I found myself getting unexpectedly teary-eyed, because I still miss her a lot.

Some of the animation and style was toeing this edge of disturbing that I think kept me aware and thinking actively during the whole thing. The music was wonderful. The chase scene? One of the best chase scenes, ever.

Mr. Duvall: Hell, no. I did *not* leave the South Side for this!

This movie surprised me with how good it was. But I think that's because we can all pretty much agree that whatever Tina Fey does is going to rock.

I especially loved the animal sequences. Those who have seen the movie know what I am talking about. Totally hysterical, totally fun, really great tying together of themes.

The movie never really veers into slapstick comedy, although it does ask it to dance for a few moments here and there. Nicely written script, acted well. I wish they'd actually shown some scenes in Chicago, though. Why make it location-specific to, say, Evanston, when Evanston is really just Anytown (but slightly more polished), USA?

Good flick. Very cute.
