Allergies.

The light shimmer of dizziness and a feeling of eyes being too widely open is far preferable to the headache and general funk I felt this morning upon waking.

Tylenol Allergy/Sinus does do its thing well, but I fear that the remedy partially involves supplanting the ick with this floating miasma of unbalance and light-headedness. It's not terrible or harsh, but I feel distant, and unable to focus nearly as well.

It seems every August brings this sort of thing to the fore. Popping open the blister packs of 2-pill doses reminds me of doing outdoor Shakespeare, and of mosquito bites that swell up with no scratching at all. I can smell the green humidity of late summer evenings, the smell of dirt and dust from drought, the tinge of charcoal fires and the damp cold caress of metal cans of soda.

I am sitting at my desk, feeling the sharpness of every color and inch of my skin, but my eyes are drooping, and I want more than anything to go home and pass out in a puddle of my own drool.
