So, I feel all productive, because I got a few measly things done.
But I think mostly it was the metric buttloads of sunshine pouring into the apartment today. It was Svetlana suggesting Mitchell's for brunch, and going there in my sloppy clothes, bandanna over my bedhead, mmm'ing happily over a spinach and feta omelette and a bottomless cup of coffee.
I installed Quicken today. That's about all I did with it, though. Account numbers and balances are for later. I also cleaned up my desktop, which had fallen prey to icon rot and was crowded with all sorts of one-off images and stray shortcuts that various software programs had left behind like mouse pellets. I also installed this drawing tablet that I had bought off of my friend Lisa many moons ago. I had left it in its box for the last couple of years, finally opening it about a year ago to realize that the installation disc had a shatter spot on it, rendering it useless. "Ah well," I thought, "I'll just see about getting a replacement disc ... someday."
For some reason I thought today I'd try the disc anyhow, even with its sparkling, cracked, veined surface. It worked. It read the disc and installed, and after looking for new drivers and updates, I now have a drawing tablet. It's really effing cool.
My tax return has also plunked heftily into my checking account, which is certainly a good thing, with some excellent timing.
