Apr. 12th, 2003 06:29 pmBack from the audition. I felt so nervous, and they were ahead of schedule, so I went a lot earlier than I thought I would. I literally walked in, took off my jacket, got through the first few lines in a quick run-through in the other room, and then they called for me. I could wait to go when I was scheduled, but I decided to bite the bullet and go ahead, anyhow.
Still nervous, though. Didn't quite hit it, didn't quite use my prop as much as I should have, as much as I did in rehearsal. I am pretty sure the piece was still sort of vague, but it really couldn't be helped with the amount of time I spent worrying over it and trying to memorize it.
Eh, who am I kidding? Memorizing wasn't so bad.
I felt comfortable in that room, though. Made sufficient eye contact with each person standing there. I was able to breathe, and I was able to smile. I didn't wrack myself to death with nerves.
Personally, I was fairly successful. I give my overall effort and performance a B+. Whether I get called back, well, that's another matter.
Svetlana and I went to Margie's Candies afterwards to celebrate, and we just got back to my place. I am sugar-buzzed from fudge and raspberry sundae. Mmmmm. I remembered to tell them not to put chopped nuts on the dessert. I rule!
And my gosh, how sunny it is in Chicago, today! I was nearly blinded this morning as I walked through my apartment to brush my teeth. Bright glowiness and yellow pinging all around, despite the chill that still lingers in the air. 41°F as I am typing this, but it still feels like spring.
