Sep. 16th, 2004 10:48 pmAfter the rain of last night, the weather was near-perfect today. I wanted to run away from work and not come back. Not until, oh, next Tuesday perhaps.
Lately, I've been exuding an aura of knowledge or something, because I have been asked for directions more times than I can count in the last week or two. Very weird.
I took a short walk after getting home this evening, down the block to this little tiny grocery store I'd never been to before tonight. It's a bit shabby, but stocked with good basics like eggs and fresh vegetables. I bought some guacamole and these lemon-jalapeno tortilla chips, and some eggs. The walk back had me smiling the whole way. The light was skimmed from dreamland - falling dusk and lavender dropping from the melted butter saffron of setting sun reflected on cirrus clouds. Everything had a sweetly muted cast to it, and the breeze was cool, and gentle. The trees on my street are tall and old, and the branches spread overhead were in sharp relief, the last light of the day telling me green, with edgings of orange.
I've been tidying a little tonight, but it wasn't enough. I don't seem to have much time lately for keeping up with everything perfectly, so I do what I can in little increments, and that's been pretty satisfying. Renaissance maintenance - a little of everything, nothing finished. Heh.
