The spoof script was handed around at the end of the last rehearsal - all principal characters did a quick read-through, planning on meeting early before the company's annual board meeting tonight to go over it a few more times. Emma, who was playing the spoof of her own character (naturally), realized at the end that she might not be able to make it because of work. So the director asked me to fill in, in the event that Emma could not make it, and I nodded (a bit tiredly).
I ended up playing the role tonight, a sexy vamp, slinky and dumb, seeking help from a detective in a short scene. It was all very silly, and I wore drop rhinestone clip earrings from the sixties and nailed the scene as best I could. Before the meeting started, I went to the reception area to see about scoring a bottle of water. I said hi to all the people I knew from doing Good last fall, when the music director for the current show told me that I now had a solo song in the show - opening the top of Act II.
Sweet!
Afterwards was La Majada and queso fundido shared with Brian, chatting with tons of company members. He's a good chatty type - likes to meander about topics and assert Life Lessons and compare notes. Decent guy, quite amicable. Just this side of detached. The guy playing Vice President Throttlebottom in the show (and also was author of the spoof script) reminds me strongly of
ratnix.
There is rain lashing my windows and pouring down out of the sky. It is 2 AM, and the humidity is thicker than sweet whipped honey and sleep deprivation.
