Aug. 15th, 2004 08:16 pmI'm taking some well-needed days of vacation this week, and it's just now settling into my brain that I am indeed on vacation. It's slowly dawning on me that I do not have to get up and go to work tomorrow. I slept like a freaking rock last night, and awoke to gentle morning light and heavy-lidded cats sprawling across the covers.
I am a little older, as of 10:42 AM, when my mom called and sang to me, and I was still stretching out my limbs and wondering exactly how lazy I could be today. Svet and I actually did venture forth into the world, to pick up lots of tasty things at Trader Joe's. Wasabi peas ahoy!
The sun shone on and flooded my apartment well into the afternoon. Ann and Tim showed up a little while ago, and so we ate little dense pieces of strawberry tiramisu and I tried a double chocolate stout that foamed up and bittered like a Guiness, but warmed the tongue with dark chocolate tones with each consecutive sip.
I am thirty-one. I don't feel it at all, and I wonder where the time went. I can hear the traffic outside, the bells ringing on the tamale man's cart, and the soft whisper tick of the clock in my living room.
