enteleinOut into the cornfields today, to see my friend Raina in her show. She was a bright, soft presence, sweet and clear-voiced in her songs. She did a nice job. She was at the Egyptian Theatre, and I hadn't been there in some years. It's looking better all the time - the restorations have been massive and well-done. I did a production of A Christmas Carol there, and have seen other shows there, including a Tori Amos concert for Under the Pink. Fab venue for that, really.
I also got to hang with Shawn, one of my dear friends from high school. I felt spastic and slightly distracted, so I am not sure I made such a good impression after not seeing her for ten years, but I took her to Margie's, where we had tuna sandwiches and sundaes, and I think we talked non-stop. She's a DJ. That totally rules. She seems the same to me, really - more herself, more in step with the energy that always seemed to be beneath her teenaged surface. It's all orchestrated now, put together, realized.
It's cool to see people be what they are.
In other news, I have discovered that white wine makes me seriously drunk and tipsy and flushed, more than any other type of alcohol, really. Why is that? I went to Svetlana's mom's for dinner tonight, for a birthday celebration for Svet. It was nice, fairly calm. Svet and her friend Chris and I sat in her room for a good hour or so, looking through old photos and artwork of hers. Good times.

Hey, it was totally awesome reuniting with you. It is overboard incredible it has been so long since we last met, but I was delighted to catch up with you and find out what had become of folks. And thank you so much for showing me the various parts of Chicago - I feel better enlightened!
Well I am adding you now into my friend list so I can keep abreast of what's what with you no matter how much you change your phone numbers :-)
