There is bright sunshine outside, there is cool air coming in through the windows, slowly helping to banish the smell of caulking from when they installed the new windows. I will miss the old dark wood-framed windows, drafts and all, old wavy glass.
The light looks different in this place now. It's sanitized, a bit more distributed. Also, these windows are all new and clean, so that makes a difference.
Feeling a terrible mix of emotions today. Beginnings and endings that are outside of my control, beginnings and endings that involve me and I am coping, but barely. I am taking deep breaths, I am trying to ignore the Water Department men outside shouting and drilling and sawing.
It's hard, though, since they're the ones that turned off my water this morning.
