Two messages, both from over an hour before the phone ever beeped. Both messages from Scott. The first, a split-second blast of noise, and then nothing. The second, a message from Scott saying he's on his way back home, he's been in an accident, he's OK.
At least he's OK, because if he wasn't, the cell phone, every molecule of its black and iridescent yellow plastic would be pulverized all over the floor of my office.
Fucking cell phone.
He'll be home some hours from now, but my god. Fucking cell phone.
What's really stupid about the whole thing is that I told him more times than usual this morning to be careful. No reason. I just told him three or four times. I always worry, but this was a bit excessive on my part.
