When pita and I lived in Michigan, it was kitty-corner, same as we grew up saying here in not-always-so-sunny California. Now, Mom always said catty-corner, but she was a New Yorker... Obviously, I disagree with pita about the familial thing... I think it is peer-related.
Anyway, it is interesting to se how through telephone game-like changes it has changed it from catercorner ot catty-corner to kitty-corner and now to kiddy-corner. I find this stuff fascinating.
