Nov. 29th, 2005 12:49 amWhen the cop finally arrived, he was not encouraged by the 4 digits I was able to get from the sock angel, nor by the fact that I had no other information. It was a hit and run, plain and simple. Additionally, if the guy ran because he had no insurance (it's illegal in IL to drive without it, so it's a massively bad thing to get caught in an accident uninsured), even if we were to catch him, I'd hardly have any luck getting anything out of him.
Also, my own insurance is pretty much Liability only. As much as I love my car, and as much as it's served me well over the years, I knew that if something like this happened, I wouldn't want to try and resurrect the car from such spindly plastic ashes. It's technically a POS.
So, no report filed. The officer was very sympathetic, but we both held the same kind of cynicism over the situation.
I dunno. I feel numb. I finally got hungry a little while ago, and managed to munch on some carrots and hummus.
This is all very upsetting. I am exhausted.
