Stories, plz.
Sep. 6th, 2005 10:04 amYou've got to give my co worker credit for snagging a vacation day at the tail-end of Labor Day Weekend. She gets four days of unadulerated phone-less bliss, and I get to fill in for her at the front desk.
I still refer to it as The Fishbowl, even though the desk is situated now in such a way that I am not quite as visible from the elevator bank through the glass doors. But I really do not do well with having to sit up here and smile pretty for an entire 9-hour day, when I am not only taking all of the switchboard calls I normally do, but also any reception calls, and people coming in for appointments.
I have noticed that a lot of the cold callers are realizing that I am wise to their machinations a lot more quickly, since they're just queueing back to me, over and over and over again. I am this close to getting a stick of gum and cracking it in my mouth during phone calls, and I have this strange urge to do my nails ...
So, since I am stuck up here with none of my usual computer stuff, and limited means of entertainment, I'd really like it if you told me a story today. Something about yourself, something made up, a life lesson we could all share in.
