I didn't get the role I was reading for.
BUT.
I did get cast. How cool is that? I will be playing two roles, one of which gets her own damn song. I'm a little sad over not getting the role I was vying for (Anne), as it would've been such a good role to work on, but the director was incredibly complimentary. She said, and this made me goggle a bit - that my acting was 'flawless,' and that my singing was also very good. The role I wanted doesn't feature singing as much as the role I got, and they wanted me so badly to sing, they were pushed in that direction with the casting. The initial nudge was that the professor Anne gets involved with was cast with a younger man than the men I was reading opposite during the audition (and matched so well with). They needed someone even younger than me. So, yeah. The professor is the central character, and so all the casting around him fell from that starting point.
I am happy, though. A show. Singing. In German, mind you. I think it's going to be a hoot. Quite possibly a hoot and a half.
Life, she is good.
