Aug. 7th, 2003 12:11 amThis past weekend Svet helped me so much. I now have mini blinds on the kitchen windows, and the ugly plain swaths of material on the cheap old rod are gone, gone, gone. The bathroom has a new blind as well, and the living room window looking out onto the back porch has a roman shade to match the other outside window in that room.
Tonight I pushed myself too far -- I know I did. But it was so satisfying to cart two bags of garbage to the alley, to break down even more cardboard and set it out for scavengers, to throw away and get rid of so many things that have been sitting for months and months.
My body aches, not totally unpleasantly. The laundry is all put away, and there is new dirty laundry to be sorted. I am sneezing, but not as badly as I normally do when cleaning.
I had a light dinner of just vegetables, and then baked a tray of the most lovely lemon blueberry muffins ever. I put mashed up banana into the batter, and oh, the finished product was so delicious. You know how you can smell things like coffee, like bread baking, and the taste can almost but not quite match up to the glorious smell? These muffins, they matched and exceeded their rich lemony scent. They baked through perfectly, and it was a pleasure to wrap all but one in wax paper and then a bag to keep for later, for co workers, a little for me.
Ah! Yeah, that was the other thing, speaking of kitchen stuff - I found the lid rack. I am not sure I will use it, but it was nice to find it. It feels like in the time since I've moved in to this place that stuff has fallen into a black hole. Unlike the me of years gone by, I am not as distressed by it.
Time to unlace my boots, brush my teeth, and fall into bed like a tired thing.
