Jul. 14th, 2003 04:16 pmThey just moved my phone and computer to another office, down the hall and around the corner. It was totally painless - the bulk of my stuff was a stack of books I'd been bringing in to work in dribs and drabs so I can either leave them in the lunchroom area, or send them to friends, or even in the rarest case, sell them. At any rate, it's easier to have them here and use the postal service here, since I am never able to get to the one in my 'hood during business hours, except for the weekend. There is no way I am standing in line at the post office on the weekend.
So here I am, in a smaller and cozier office, and already the HR guy that took my old office has crammed the shelves full of binders and booklets and pamphlets that he apparently needs in order to be a resource to the rest of us. I need to call one of the office services guys, as he's taller than me and can reach up and disconnect the fluorescent tubes in the ceiling panels.
I was worried about my phone ringing constantly being a source of annoyance to my new office neighbor, but there's a vent right above my head, which means that there's significant white noise going on in this little section. I always keep my door slightly ajar, anyhow, so that should block more sound.
There's still files in the cabinet, here. Lots of files with people's names on them. The desktop was gross, filthy. Several paper towels and sprays of cleaner later, and it's tolerable. It kinda feels good to change the environment. They had 'threatened' to move me several months ago, but it never happened, and so I never really settled into that old office. This one might feel a little more like mine, like I can relax.
I really really need to do laundry tonight, but I am not sure I am up for the whole shebang. Ah well. I'll probably just suck it up and do it, like I always do.
