Nov. 5th, 2002 07:08 pmWhy does it seem for so many people that politics is a fair-weather hobby?
Reading the e-mails and the forums, the weblogs, hearing the co workers and the people on the train, you'd think that voting was the only goddamn thing that counted towards change and justice in our fucked up system. The stats, the ins, the outs, it's all like sports. Who's on what team? Who're you rooting for? Fah! (I am making a full two-armed throwing-away motion, like I am 85 and don't understand the music those kids are listening to today). Feh!
If it was so goddamn important to be on top of things today, then where the hell have you been the entire year? Why weren't you out educating people 6 months ago, instead of saving up all your fire and brimstone for today today today?
No offense to the people who've said it to me today, but if I hear the phrase, "Well, now I've got license to bitch," well, I'll tell you what license I've got now.
Mmm hmm.
