Losing a family member to distance like that has to be hard - my parents and sister never really show it, but I know they miss me, and I miss them as much, at the most random times, even though I'm only 3 hours drive from them..
.. if it helps, time changes all things, and dulls even the worst pains, but the miracle of the internet and the telephone have helped recent generations survive such things. :)
