It's not as if I was planning on being a huge sloth today or anything, but I'd like to wake up on my own, thanks.

The girl downstairs is notorious for playing music loudly, playing the same music over and over again, and often playing it at late hours, say, 2 AM, 4 AM.

This morning, 9 AM, Bob Marley singing to me from downstairs. Loudly. It sounds almost as if he's being played in the next room. What the fuck? And then it goes into commercial. She's playing the damn radio.

She's so ... impulsive about her music playing. She's got her favorites, and she plays them into the ground. She will routinely up the volume threehundredfold for a song or two on the radio, and then take just a little too long to turn it down once the announcer's voice has come back in.

It's more than a little annoying.

So now I've been up for a while. I cleaned off my desk a bit, dug out the Flash 5 book I got eons ago, and I'm going to see how much work I can get done today while also getting some floor mopping done in the apartment.

Cassette tapes recently unearthed:

* Simply Red - Stars
* a tape from Jon. One side has Depeche Mode's Some Great Reward, the other side is R.E.M.'s Out of Time
* Danny Wilson - Meet Danny Wilson

I play the same music, sometimes the same song, over and over again while writing. It provides the appropriate background noise and doesn't disturb me or demand my attention. Maybe that's what she is doing.

That's probably totally the case, but to me it's an (occasionally) extremely frustrating case of good neighborliness gone bad.

I mean, do you play the music so loudly you can't even hear the people who live above you stomping their feet on their floor? (and the only reason we do that is because HELL if I am going downstairs and *outside* in order to knock on her door at 3 AM).

Ugh.
