no sleep for the wicked
Oct. 16th, 2003 06:23 pmToday was one of the most stressful days EVAR.
Woke up early after getting home rehearsal late the night before, and got to work about a half hour early. I knew my co worker who sits the front desk was going to be out, so I was prepared (as much as I could be) to do both jobs today. She'll be gone tomorrow, too. Then I remembered that another co worker with a relative coming into town was going to be off today and tomorrow as well. OK, well, that's fine. I nearly considered calling in, mind you, myself, but I reconsidered when I realized I was mostly just really tired, and feeling a mite overwhelmed because of it.
I get to work, and a few minutes before eight, another co worker called and said he wasn't coming in. Faaabulous. I transferred him over to my boss's voicemail so he could leave him a message, and then I checked out of front desk e-mail and into my own work e-mail, where I discovered a note from said boss that he was going to switch his day off from Friday to today, so he was also out of the office.
Luckily, there were still two people left in our little department to help cover breaks and things. During my lunch hour I went into my office, pulled out the pillow from the handy business-like filing cabinet, and passed out for about ten minutes. It did me almost a world of good. At least I didn't feel quite so dizzy. I hate that dizziness.
And now I am home. And wolfing down soup, so I can hop into my car and head to rehearsal. We're taking headshots tonight, as well as performing for some high school students who are studying the play in class. No pressure, no pressure. Must. Stay. Awake.
